Everyday on college campuses and in the mainstream media we witness attacks on conservatives and Republicans. From the War on Terrorism to the Patriot Act, the Left criticizes and undermines everything conservatives do. But one thing people do not comprehend is that liberals lie, slant, and contort the actions of right-wingers in order to harbor political gain among voters and young people (Rock the Vote anyone?).
Liberal elitists like Michael Moore, Senator Ted Kennedy, Jon Stewart, and Al Franken have mastered the art of diversion. They love the environment, affirmative action, labor unions, gun control, and high taxes all the while condemning corporations, war, oil, and anything capitalist in nature. But the funny thing is, as pointed out in the book Do as I Say (Not as I Do): Profiles in Liberal Hypocrisy by Peter Schweizer, the Left does exactly the opposite of what they say, leading many to believe they are hypocrites and liars.
One large example is Ted Kennedy, U.S. Senator from Massachusetts. His love of the environment and tax increases, along with habitual arrogance, puts him as a great leader in the Democratic Party. However, Ted’s claims become void in his actions. He is quoted wanting high taxes for the rich and believes in estate taxes but puts the Kennedy riches in off-shore tax shelters in countries like Fiji. On energy and the environment, Ted wants clean energy technologies and less dependency on natural resources for America. But a little known fact is that Senator Kennedy’s family owns oil companies and he was against the wind power project of the coast of Massachusetts because it was too close to the Kennedy compound. Of all the great politicians in the Kennedy family, this apple apparently fell far from the tree (oh, and don’t forget about his son).
“Bush is stupid!” and “Bush lied!” are common phrases the Left throws out there to act smart. Don’t believe these blatant lies. Bush is not stupid. He has degrees from top universities in the country. Did you know he was even nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize? And no, Bush did not lie about intelligence for starting the war in Iraq. He believed whole-heartedly that there were WMDs and the CIA provided him with the evidence. Even John Kerry believed that Saddam Hussein was a threat, but that was before he voted for the war before he voted against it.
My best advice is to do your research and get both sides of the story before you start believing any politician or celebrity’s claims (especially Al Gore’s so-called “inconvenient truth”).
